Why I Wrote The Art of Pregnancy

When I found out I was pregnant for the first time, I must confess that I felt infinitely happy but very nervous, because I knew little of the subject of pregnancy. So, I began to research, to investigate and to ask questions, trying to discover the secret of how to be an excellent mother. I wanted to know everything!

Learning about the science of pregnancy helped me a lot, and I am grateful for all the knowledge I gained. But honestly, nothing compared to living the experience of pregnancy firsthand. After all, from the beginning of our existence as human beings, procreation has been part of our nature. That's right! Without the help of doctors or medicine, we knew how to gestate and give birth to our babies.

I quickly concluded that was not all about the science of pregnancy. Of course not! I could not leave aside the spiritual, emotional and romantic part of pregnancy. So I gave flight to my feelings and emotions, and let myself be transformed, body and soul, by my pregnancy. Then, the magic happened . . . my philosophy of pregnancy emerged, full of love and romance, inviting me not to wait until my baby is born to start my relationship with him.

Today, we have allowed the beauty of pregnancy to rest solely upon medicine. Not finding in any book the spiritual, emotional and romantic aspect of pregnancy, I ask you: is it that romance has been lost in so much science? Sadly, I would say yes.

I, who already lived this divine moment, know very well what we women desire to know, and what by necessity we should learn about pregnancy. It is true that being pregnant is wonderful. But it is also true that a million questions emerge. There are so many topics we would love to know more of, both about ourselves and about our babies in gestation. And most importantly, I know what it means for us to have the joy of motherhood.

For this reason, I gave myself the task of writing The Art of Pregnancy. A book that addresses pregnancy as an art (not simply the physical state in which a pregnant woman finds herself), with a touch of my beautiful philosophy of pregnancy, and full of wise advice and useful tips to achieve the most extraordinary and subtle pregnancy.

My Pregnancy Test: Positive

I want to share with you the experience of my first pregnancy. I'll start by telling you that, like many other women, I had to learn patience to become pregnant for the first time. I was ready, but my body was not. My body had to prepare for the big moment. On top of that, I needed to learn more about my body.

So, my husband and I had to wait, period after period, negative result after negative result, wish after wish. In fact, I even had to buy the famous "Ovulation Tests" to discover that I was one of those special cases. That's right! Instead of ovulating between the eleventh and fourteenth day of my menstrual period, I ovulated between the eighteenth and twenty-first day of my period. Hmmm! No wonder we were having difficulty coinciding with my beautiful ovum!

But once I learned my lesson, and discovered my grand moment of ovulation . . . I prepared a romantic party for two, and the rest is history. One day, the miracle happened, the result of my pregnancy test was positive. What emotion! My joy was so great that I could not stop crying. Finally, I "daughter, lawyer and wife" was to become a mother.

The Art of Pregnancy

We all agree, pregnancy is a fascinating subject. And when we experience pregnancy for ourselves, it is one of the most incredible stages in the life of a woman.

Having said this, how can we improve our pregnancies? What are we lacking to achieve perfection? Wisdom and understanding? A little help to make us feel more beautiful than ever?  A guide to learn how to eat right, and to promote the optimal development of our babies? A good reason to give up vices and bad habits? The secret to learn to fall in love with our pregnancies, and strengthen the bonds of love with our babies in gestation? With respect to our partner, a key to renew the intense love we feel for each other, to share the romance of pregnancy? Guidance to lose our fear of childbirth? Any suggestions to prepare for the birth of our babies? Wise advice, useful tips, words of encouragement and faith?

The best answer to all of these questions are found in my book, The Art of Pregnancy. In the pages of my book, you will find all that and more, much more.

Now that we are on the same page, I invite you to enjoy, live, feel, and experience firsthand . . . The Art of Pregnancy. And like me, I urge you not to wait until your baby is born to start your relationship with him. Consider that from the moment your baby is conceived, you become a mother. And, from the moment you confirm you are pregnant, your grand mandate begins: to safeguard the life of your baby.

I invite you to order The Art of Pregnancy for yourself, or as a gift for someone special in your life. The Art of Pregnancy is conveniently available in hardcover and as an eBook.
